Midweek sailing Wed, 8/1

vagabond2 July 30th, 2007

Hi Fellow Sailors,

Wow! August already! There are many of you in the club who have yet to bring your boat to the lake and time is running out fast. Let’s act on those good intentions. Last week we had four boats and thirteen crew sailing with a couple crew on the beach. The wind was about perfect giving us a nice evening sail. We get there at 4:30 and people show up when they can. Hope to see you there. Tom

Chester River Vagabond - July 28-29

John July 17th, 2007

There’s still time to join in on this fun weekend.  We will be doing all our sailing on the Chester River so if you can sleep on your boat however small it is big enough!

We will be meeting at the Windmill Restaurant at 8:00am.  Eat before you leave or eat in the car.  We will be putting in at Long Cove State Ramp stopping on the way at Vonnie’s on Rt. 213 (between Galena and Kennedyville) to pick up the permits.  The ramp has space for storing the cars and trailers overnight.  We plan to spend Saturday sailing in the Chester River observing the annual Regatta of the Corsica River Yacht club. We will be participating in their chicken dinner/band/beer truck/ festivities.  We will spend the night moored in the Chester.  Bring food and drink to cover lunch on Saturday and Sunday and breakfast Sunday morning.  Contact Tom S. or Mike D. to be included and for dinner reservations.  Need a crew or a ride- call ASAP.

Corsica River YC schedule (We won’t be racing and usually participate only in the dinner but breakfast and lunch is available for a charge).

August Picnic

John July 16th, 2007

On August 11th BMSA sailors held their 3rd summer picnic at the Temple Playground. A group of around 25 enjoyed a potluck dinner on a pleasantly warm evening. Many of the sailors in attendance had recently returned from the Abacos and spent the evening sharing stories with those unable to make the trip.

July 18 sailing

John July 16th, 2007

This weeks mid-week sailing will be held Wednesday, July 18th. It looks like the forecast will be good for sailing as Accuweather is calling for sunny skies with temps in the mid 80’s and winds 9-10.

Hope to see as many boats on the water as last week. And as always we are looking for people to crew.

A nice turnout on a nice evening

John July 16th, 2007

Last weeks mid-week sail was Thursday evening and what a incredible evening it was. Weather was perfect, winds were light, but steady. Five sailboats and two kayaks attended. Armando was there in his Surprise. Ray was there with his Catalina 22, the Katzens with their Hunter 23, Dante with his Compac 16; Lou was there with Jersey Girl, but with more boats than crew he sailed with Ray. John was there paddling his kayak and ran in to Crista watching Armando from a shady spot along the shore. Looking forward to another big turn-out next week.
